Wayland Opens Cooling Centers For Heat Wave
This week's heat wave is forecast to peak Thursday, with heat indices near 100 in the area.
WAYLAND, MA — Wayland residents will have some options to seek refuge from the heat wave Wednesday to Friday.
The Wayland Free Public Library, 5 Concord Road, will be open as usual, and will be open on the Juneteenth holiday. The hours will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The public safety building, 38 Cochituate Road, will keep a training room open for the public to use to cool down 24 hours per day through Friday at 5 p.m.

Outside the area, the state Department of Recreation and Conservation (DCR) will extend hours at pools, wading pools, spray decks, beaches, and waterfronts. For a list of DCR’s ocean beaches click here, and for the freshwater inland beaches click here.
