Wayland Ranks Among Best School Districts In MA, New Ranking Says
Here's where Wayland falls among the top 25 public school districts in Massachusetts, according to Niche.
WAYLAND, MA — Wayland ranks as the No. 9 best school district in Massachusetts, according to the 2026 Best School Districts in America list recently released by the education ranking service Niche.
Wayland Public Schools has 2,745 students in grades PK, K-12, with a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1. According to state test scores, 75 percent of students are proficient or above in math, and 71 percent in reading.
Meanwhile, the best school district in the Bay State is Brookline Public Schools. You can find the full list of 25 here.

Not too long ago, Wayland High School was ranked one of the best high schools in the state. WHS took the 22nd spot in the U.S. News & World Report's 2025-2026 rankings of the best public high schools in each state.

Niche said its rankings, now in the 11th year, differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
