WAYLAND, MA — Here's your opportunity to create some electrifying art.

The Wayland Cultural Council is looking for local artists to design and paint three dull, black-and-gray utility boxes around town. The council is seeking designs themed around nature.

"Wayland takes great pride in its preservation of the forests, marshes and fields that surround the Sudbury River. Wayland is a community the encourages involvement and participation in all aspects of the town for the welfare of the community. Artwork should reflect nature, the beautiful green spaces, wildlife and community connections," the cultural council said.

The boxes are located at the intersection of Old Connecticut Path and Cochituate Road; 264 Old Connecticut Path at the Wayland High School entrance; and at the intersection of Cochituate Road and Route 30.

The three new boxes will join two others that were completed in 2022. Maynard illustrator Bryan Clocker painted a box at the corner of East Plain Street and Route 27; and Arlington painter Nayda Cuevas painted one along the Mass Central Rail Trail near the Wayland Public Library.
