Wayland Taps MWRA Emergency Connection Amid Disruption At Baldwin Pond Plant

There was an air compressor failure at Baldwin Pond Water Treatment Facility on Saturday.

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland announced that its water department experienced an air compressor failure at Baldwin Pond Water Treatment Facility on Saturday.

The failure caused the department to take the plant offline for repairs, so the town activated its Massachusetts Water Resources Authority Emergency Connection to meet water system demands and public safety needs.

The emergency connection allows Wayland to draw from the MWRA if one of the town's drinking water wells, such as the plant at Baldwin Pond, isn't able to provide enough water.
