Wayland, Weston To Host Series Of Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

Primary vaccines and boosters will be available across four clinics for children as young as 6 months.

WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland and Weston health department will hold a series of COVID-19 vaccine clinics over the next two months aimed at children and infants.

The four clinics will offer the primary vaccines series and boosters to children 6 months to age 12.

So far, the primary two-shot primary series is available from Moderna for children from 6 months to 4 years; and the Pfizer version for children over 5. The new bivalent booster designed to fight omicron variants is available from Modern for children from 6 months to 4 years. Pfizer offers two bivalent versions: one for kids age 5 to 11, and a second for kids over age 12.

Coronavirus is still circulating widely in Massachusetts along the RSV and season flu. As of Jan. 11, Massachusetts added over 9,300 new coronavirus cases across all age groups. Between Christmas and Jan. 7, the state added 2,153 cases alone in children under age 14, according to the state Department of Public Health.
