Wayland Wins 8th Annual Civics Bee

Teams from Wayland, Sudbury and Weston competed Sunday in the annual League of Women Voters competition.

WAYLAND, MA - Wayland successfully defended its crown Sunday, defeating teams fro Sudbury and Weston in the eighth annual League of Women Voters Civics Bee.

Wayland won the 2015 bee and claimed the crown again in the 2016 competition, held at the Community Center in Weston Sunday afternoon.

Middle School:

C.J. Brown, Brendan Ho, Charlie Moore, Genesis Morales, Felix Thompson, Ryan Urato and Kevin Wang with coaches Matthew McCormack and Jacob Montweiler.

High School:

Ashley Edwards (alternate), Zach Falber (alternate), Josh Lee, William Paik, Sarah Raines, Sten Shearer, Lily Toto and Luke Xu with coaches Eva Urban Hughes and Kevin Delaney.

Adults:

Robert Gordon, Miranda Jones and Jonathan Saxton

The contest tested teams knowledge of federal, state and local government. This year's special emphasis was the executive branch.
