Wayland Youth Will Be 'Ballkids' At Tennis Laver Cup In Boston
The Wayland Middle and High School students are both members of the Longfellow Natick tennis club.

WAYLAND, MA — Two Wayland youth will have the prestigious — but very physically difficult — honor of scrambling for balls during the upcoming Laver Cup tennis tournament in Boston.
Arya Samaratunga, 14, and Tobias Kylberger, 12, won the "ballkid" jobs during a qualifying event on Friday at the Longfellow Tennis Club in Natick. Samaratunga and Kylberger are both members of the club, and attend Wayland High School and Wayland Middle School, respectively. They beat out 28 other locals competing to be ballkids.
The Laver Cup, founded in 2016, is an annual tennis tournament between a men's team from Europe and a men's team comprised of tennis players from other nations around the world.

Tennis champ John McEnroe will captain the 2021 world team, which will feature Association of Tennis Professionals like Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Diego Schwartzman. The Europe team will include Matteo Berrettini, Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem.
The 2021 Laver Cup will run Sept. 24 to 26 at the TD Garden.
