WAYLAND, MA — A pandemic-era winter feature has returned to the Dudley Chateau.

This week, the Lake Cochituate bar and restaurant began offering outdoor dining igloos to patrons. The hexagonal tents first appeared last winter before vaccines made indoor dining slightly less risky.

Still, coronavirus cases are on the rise in Massachusetts, and there's the looming threat of the omicron variant, which may be resistant to current vaccines. With the onset of cold weather, indoor dining may become a little more risky.

The Dudley Chateau's dining igloos offer warmth and social distance. Up to eight people can fit in the igloos, which the restaurant rents for $25 for two hours, a price that includes cleaning and sanitizing.
