Mouse Droppings, Dirty Spoons: Westborough's Health Inspections
Westborough's health department conducted multiple inspections in May.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—The following inspections were supplied by the Westborough Board of Health and include inspections that took place in May. The inspection notes are that of the health department's.
Editor's note: an incorrect version of this report ran initially, but was updated within a half hour of its original post on Wednesday morning.
Xtra Mart, 185 Turnpike Road, May 1: Received three non-critical violations. Hand sink has food debris - should only be used to wash hands. Mop must be hung to dry. Food and chemicals should be stored separately. All food needs to be off the floor. Remove cans of paint under the bay sink. Sweep and mop under shelves. Clean the exterior of the equipment, including shelf and table. Pizza cutter was left on the top of a box of crackers. Handsink was blocked and dirty.
Scoops & Bites, 57 East Main St., May 1: Three non-critical violations. Label all food out of original packaging. Hoods over six burner stove have debris on vent covers. Hood cleaning overdue. Ice cream scoops need to be kept in running water.
Courtyard by Marriot, 3 Technology Drive, May 1: Three non-critical violations. Hood vents are dusty and greasy. Label chemical spray bottles. Clean ceiling fans. Clean walls under the hood and behind the knife rack. Interior of ice machine due for cleaning. Clean inside of utensil drawer. All utensils must have handles facing in the same direction. All products out of their original packaging should be labeled. Repair broken gasket under counter cooler in kitchen. Sweet under equipment. Clean gaskets on cooler door in store room. Clean ceiling of microwave. Ice machine has rust.
Extended Stay America, 19 Connector Road, May 1: One non-critical violation. No sponges allowed in food storage area.
Honey Dew Donuts, 2 Connector Road, May 1: Three non-critical violations. All food should be six inches off the floor. Build up of debris in back of three-bay sink. Hand sinks should be for hand washing only. Label all food in original package (donut toppings). Repair broken gasket on cooler.
Dunkin Donuts, 35 East Main St., May 1: Two non-critical violations. Replace gasket. Ice bucket hanging from shelf with chemicals above. Hand sink used as dump sink.
Dunkin Donuts, 183 Turnpike Road, May 1: Three non-critical violations. Fanguard is dusty. Handsinks should be for handwashing only. Basket holding croissants is dusty.
Westborough Senior Center, 4 Rogers Road, May 1: Two violated provisions related to foodborne illnesses interventions and risk factors. Label all spray bottles and sanitizers. Staff should have a set up area for eating in the kitchen.
Andy's Variety, 11 Milk St., May 2: Received one critical violation and two non-critical violations. Chemicals need to be stored away from food related items. Thermometer needed for refrigerator. Expired items should be kept in a separate area. Clean up needed around the dumpsters. Replace the cover on the toilet.
Cork and Grain, 2 West Main St., May 2: No violations. Food stored in clean and organized manner. Bathroom is stocked and clean.
YMCA Boroughs, 4 Valente Drive, May 2: No violations. All areas are maintained, clean and sanitary. Everything looks great!
Starbucks at Target, 330 Turnpike Road, May 2: One critical violation and three non-critical violations. Clean the walls behind the sink and shelving. Replace the stained and dirty caulk behind the three-bay. Clean the ceiling vents. They are dusty. All food and food service items must be six inches above the floor. Hot water not working for hand washing sink. Repair ripped gasket on "happy hour" cooler door. Icee machine is leaking. clean the soda machine residue. Clean the ice chute on the soda machine.
Stonefire By Design, 206 Turnpike Road, May 2: No critical violations. Place is clean and organized. No violations noted at this time.
New York Deli, May 3: Three non-critical violations. Fan guard must be made clear. Clean dust from hood. Label all chemical bottles. Repair floor around drain. Clean shelf below soup containers. Repair broken gaskets or cooler doors. Clean exterior of all equipment. Clean gaskets throughout. Clean ceiling ventilation. Repair tile in bathroom.
Spectrum, 153 Oak St., May 4: One non-critical violation. Small fridge has a lot of ice buildup. Hood was not being used. All equipment is clean. Grease trap is clean. Clean and dust the fan - dust observed blowing in.
Simple Greek, 290 Turnpike Road, May 3: Two non-critical violations. Clean the blade of the can opener. Clean the ceiling of the microwave. Clean up spills from oil off shelving. Clean gaskets on cooler doors. Remove chemicals from food storage under cabinet. Clean ceiling ventilation. Cabinet doors out front are sticky.
Spectrum, 155 A. Oak St., May 4: One non-critical violation. Please clean interior of the ice chute of the Pepsi machine. Clean inside of microwave. Clean under equipment in the frill area, and on the walls. Walk ins are OK. Ice machine appears clean.
Spectrum, 154 Oak St., May 4: No violations. Dish room clean, Grease trap log is posted. Hand sink stocked. All foods sealed. Facility is clean and organized.
Red Heat Tavern, 227 Turnpike Road, May 7: Three non-critical violations. Keep dumpsters closed when not in use. Ice machine is clean. Permits posted. Hood vents are a little dusty. Get soap and towels for front hand sink. Ensure hand sink is used for dumping (debris in the sink). Overall place is kept in clean and organized manner.
Sleighmaker Inn, 87 West Main St., May 7: One non-critical violation. All spray bottles need to be labeled, including water.
Knowledge Beginnings, 85 East Main St., May 7: Two non-critical violations. Clean interior of microwave. Get test strips. Discard any equipment that is retired to prevent contamination.
Emery Family Farm, 3 Emery Road, May 7: No violations. Fruit that is used mainly comes in fresh. If freezing, ensure that it is labeled. Labels contain all ingredients and contact info. Ensure that no pets are in the kitchen area when cooking.
YWCA, May 7: Two non-critical violations. No sponges allowed in food areas. Clean the interior of the microwave. Seal up around pipes. Mouse droppings noted in the cabinet.
New Hope Chapel, 30 Milk St., May 8: One non-critical violation. Clean the microwave. Keep utensils handle up. This is a limited use kitchen.
Target, 206 Turnpike Road, May 9: One critical violation. Multiple gaps on dock doors. Replace gaskets on "truckers door." Clean ceiling vents. Sweep floors in the dairy walk-in. Repair leak on unit.
Cold Harbor Brewery, 108 Milk St., May 10: One non-critical violation. Routine inspection. Hand sink was stocked with soap and towels. Chemicals stored properly. Staff bathroom needs "employees must wash hands" sign.
The Grub Guru (Mobile Truck), 98 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, May 10: Label the sanitizer bottle. Sanitizer test strip needed. Cutting boards have some scratches and need resurfacing soon. Some paint chips around the back window.
Masonic Lodge, 12 Church St., May 11: One non-critical violation. Mouse droppings in the back room. clean sprayhead of coffee machine.
Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St., May 11: One non-critical violation. Routine inspection. Refrigerator at correct temperature. Chemicals in a separate area. Check to ensure dates on products are checked and that outdated food is discarded. Noted expired sour cream, creamer and salad dressing. Bag of sugar should be closed. Overall, kitchen is very organized.
Chef du Jour, 12 Church St., May 11: Three non-critical violations. Routine inspection. Drippings found in storage room. Foods need to be labeled if it's out of original package. All handles must face the same way. Remove all unneeded chemicals from the kitchen.
eBridge Motessori School, 57 East Main St., May 14: No violations.
Courtyard by Marriott, 3 Technology Drive, May 15: Two non-critical violations. Clean the walls behind the knife rack and under the hood. Clean microwave.
e-Bridge Choice Program, 275 Turnpike Road, May 15: One non-critical violation. Sanitizer is made daily. Bathrooms are stocked and clean. Snacks are in classrooms and covered. Put all open containers of food in sealed containers.
Stonefire Pizza, May 15: No violations. Ensure air conditioner is cleaned. Test the sanitizer. Update servsafe and allergen certificates. Replace internal thermometer on tall fridge.
Xtra Mart, 185 Turnpike Road, May 16: One non-critical violation in the "equipment and utensil" category.
Cumberland Farms, 165 Flanders Road, May 22: Some fan guards have some rust buildup. These are low risk, but keep an eye. This facility is kept in an extremely sanitary and clean condition.
Cumberland Farms Corporate Store, 165 Flanders Road, May 22: Two non-critical violations. Nachos and hot dog toppings are at 38 degrees. Front sink is now solely a dump sink. Fans in walk-in need cleaning. Several expired licenses, including servsafe, allergen. Clean the bottle shelf of tall reach in the freezer. Ensure that the barrier of the ice machine is cleaned. Hood above pizza oven has some dust buildup. Dry goods room is OK.
Juniper Farms Ice Cream, Juniper Road, May 23: One non-critical violation. Vending permit expired. Freezer has a lot of ice buildup and it's starting to get on the products.
Streat Food (Mobile Food Truck), 27 Terri Road, Framingham, May 24: One non-critical violation. Label sanitizer bottle. Cutting boards have a lot of scratches. Some paint chips around the back window.
Alltown Mobil, 180 Turnpike Road, May 30: Two non-critical violations. Chipped paint behind the hot dog machine. Needs to be painted or covered. Clean around the hot chocolate machine. Store food away from chemicals.
The Bistro, 57 East Main St., May 31: Received two non-critical violations. Bathrooms stocked and have proper signs. Chokesaver certificate is expired. Cutting board needs resurfacing. Clean floors under the dry storage. Ensure racks have top cover to prevent contamination. Microwave needs internal cleaning. Grease traps need to be cleaned quarterly. Clean interior and exterior of the sandwich station.
