Westborough's Annual Screen-Free Week Asks Residents To Unplug
For Westborough Unplugs 2023, organizers have lined up a series of events to help residents leave phones and other screens at home.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — After you read this, close your laptop or phone and stow it away for the next few days.
The annual Westborough Unplugs week will run April 30 to May 6, and will be full of events designed to be blissfully screen-free.
"Westborough Connects understands that digital devices are necessary for navigating many parts of life and relationships today. Westborough Unplugs, part of National Screen Free Week, encourages us to 'unplug' when and where we can, and discover the incredible local opportunities beyond our screens," the organizers say.

Here's a full lineup of events happening for the unplugged week:
Sunday, 1:30 p.m. — The Westborough Community Land Trust will lead a nature walk along the Gilmore Pond All-Persons Trail, 19 Quick Farm Road, accessible for people strollers and people of all ages and abilities.

Monday, 4 p.m. — A 5-mile community bike ride hosted by the Westborough Active Transportation and Safety Committee. Meet at the Westborough High School upper parking lot, outside the auditorium doors.
Monday, 5:30 p.m. — A bike parade hosted by Westborough elementary school parent groups, Westborough Police Department and Westborough Connects. Riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes. Meet at Hastings Elementary School.
Tuesday, noon — An unplugged walk and talk hosted by Westborough connects. Meet at the Bay State Commons pavilion for a walk around town.
Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. — An independent reading event hosted by Westborough Connects at the Bay State Common, 1100 Union St. Find more details here. Westborough House of Pizza will donate 10 percent of sales during the event to Westborough Connects.
Thursday, 6 p.m. — The Westborough Public Library will host a Book & Seek with free cake and ice cream starting at 6:30 p.m.
Friday, 6:30 p.m. — A dog walk hosted by Westborough High School Humane Society will start at Veteran’s Freedom Park, 169A West Main St. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
Saturday, 11 a.m. — Westborough author Megan Litwin will talk about her children's book "Dirt and Bugsby" at Hygge House Books.
Saturday, noon — Nourse Farm, corner of Jasper and Nourse streets, will host a variety of events to conclude the Westborough Unplugs week, including a self-guided hike, cooking demonstrations, a draft horse demonstration, tractor tours, a bird walk and food trucks.
