Outgoing Weston Moderator Thanks Community

The follow is an announcement sent to the Weston community from its outgoing Town Moderator, Wendy Spector.

To the Town of Weston:

I have just completed my tenure as your Town Moderator with the conclusion of the 2013 Annual Town Meeting On Monday, May 20.  

First elected in 2010, following the moderatorship of Bob Buchanan of several decades, I sought to strengthen the institution of Town Meeting and encourage engagement in local governance.  I am very proud of the changes I introduced, including time limits on speakers at Town Meeting; greater communications through the website, westonGrapevine, and printed informational brochures; and public solicitation for appointments.  I also appreciate that some changes were not so welcome, but through the energy and commitment of citizens a democratic process that began with the Weston Town Meeting Advisory Committee (WTMAC) continues with the Selectmen's own Town Meeting Advisory Committee.

Tom Crane was elected on May 11 to be your new Moderator.  You can continue to use moderator@westonmass.org to communicate with him.  

Thanks to my many supporters and to all citizens who work for the benefit of our town.  Please stay engaged and support our town leaders and volunteers.  I look forward to rejoining you as a Town Meeting member and advocating for the issues that matter to me as a fellow citizen.
