The Carney Gallery in the Fine Arts Center at Regis College will be opening a collaborative exhibition on themes related to Saint Francis of Assisi and his life on March 15, 2013. The joint poetry and painting exhibition by poet and Associate Professor of English Julia Lisella and artist Adele Travisano  will continue until May 13.

"'Rash Vows'  explores the strong relationship between the worlds of poetry and artwork,” said Lisella. "Deeply inspired by the life and work of St. Francis of Assisi, the 13th-century founder of the men’s Franciscan Order and the women’s Order of St. Clare, Adele Travisano and I move the viewer and reader back and forth between two emotional fields."

Like the early 20th-century imagists, the syntax and line breaks of Lisella’s poems have a visual equivalent. So, too, Travisano’s paintings hold complex narratives. Both artists fill their work with fluidity and beautifully raw emotion.

The opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 16 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at which guests will have the opportunity to greet the poet and the painter.
