Regis Helps Native American Students Prepare for College
Regis College recently hosted a contingent from the Mashpee Wampanoags as part of a summer program aimed at preparing the students for college.

in Weston recently played host to a group of Native American high school students, including a group from Cape Cod, to give them a taste of what college life is like in a special five-week program called Native Tribal Scholars.
According to the Enterprise newspapers, which cover five Cape towns, the program is funded by a federal grant and "aimed at preparing tribal youth for post-secondary education, providing culturally relevant academic courses, and teaching the high school students about tribal sovereignty and Native American history."
Most of the 40 students were from the Mashpee tribe local to the Cape.

The program aims to help students get through even just high school, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council told the Enterprise, as currently only 48 percent of Mashpee tribal teenagers graduate from high school.
