The Golden Ball Tavern Museum is open for our annual Holiday Extravaganza - "Trimming the Tavern "Here's to the Red, White and Blue". From December 8th to December 13th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free and Family Friendly - visit the beautifully decorated rooms created with the theme of the 250th anniversary of the Revolution...by a team of community partners. DON"T MISS THIS! Our museum offers visitors a different perspective on the American Revolution. Our museum, housed in a historic Pre-Revolutionary home and tavern in Weston, Massachusetts, tells the other side of the story – that of the Loyalists during the War of Independence. Notably, the Museum is among only a handful of institutions in the country dedicated to bringing to life the Loyalist experience. We also tell the story of six generations of the same family living in the same house for almost 200 years! Join us to learn more about colonial life and beyond. Our last open house history tours of the museum for 2025 will be on Thursday, December 18th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free and family friendly! WESTON, MA—Leon A. Gaumond, Jr., was appointed Weston's next town mayor, approved by the Board of Selectmen at its July 10 meeting. It is anticipated that Gaumond will begin mid-September, which will allow for a two-week overlap with Weston's current Town Manager.Gaumond currently serves as the town administrator for Sturbridge. He formerly served as town administrator for West Boylston and the executive secretary for East Longmeadow, as well as serving as Chief of Staff for State Rep. Paul Caron. The Selectmen said their decision was very close, as Weston would have been well-served by all three finalists, but Gaumond was selected due to his particular background and expertise, according to the announcement. The three finalists were recommended by the Town Manager Screening Committee and were interviewed by the Selectmen at their meeting on June 25. Photo via town of Weston
