Wayward Bear Spotted in Weston
A black bear was spotted in Weston on the morning of Monday, May 20.

Police are urging residents in Weston and Lincoln to be on the lookout for a wayward black bear spotted on Sunday on Monday in both towns, according to the Boston Globe.
The bear was reported to be in the area of Route 117 and Route 126 on Sunday, May 19. On the morning of May 20, Weston Police also received reports of 100-plus pound bear in the northern section of town. The bear was also spotted on a railroad bed that runs from Waltham to Lincoln. A Weston Police officer speculated the bear was looking for food.
The bear, if it is a male, could have been forced out of its home by an older female bear and it may be attempting to find its own territory, according to the Globe. Hibernation season for bears ended weeks ago.

If spotted, residents can report the bear to police, but it is not necessary, Lincoln Police told the Globe. Removing food sources such as trash cans and bird feeders can help reduce the chances of attracting a bear, according to the Globe.
