Weston Residents Asked to Conserve Power

The region's electrical grid operator is asking residents to conserve their electricity use as the the company struggles to fill the area's power needs, according to a notice sent to Weston residents. 

"As a precautionary step, ISO New England is requesting voluntary electricity conservation, particularly between the hours of 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., to help maintain system reliability," the notice said.

POWER CONSERVERATION STEPS (As printed on notice)

• Raise air conditioning thermostats by a few degrees if health permits. A suggested temperature range is between 74°F–78°F

• Turn off unneeded lights and appliances

• Turn off unnecessary office equipment

• Shut off air conditioners when leaving home for extended periods of time

• Defer laundry and other chores requiring electricity until the early morning or late evening hours

The notice urges residents to take the steps in accordance with proper health and safety measures. 

If power supplies become tight, backup steps to meet the demand can be taken to meet the demand, according to the notice.
