While this year's race will still be a fundraising effort, it will not be going to Parkway-area charities, like the more than $938,000 raised since the first race in 1994.

"...this year’s race will also be one of remembrance of the tragedy of the Boston Marathon bombings. The Race start will be preceded by a Moment of Silence to honor the deceased and also to remember all of the innocent victims of this cowardly terrorist attack," said a letter from the Corrib Charitable Trust Board of Directors, on the coolrunning.com website.
