German Centre, a trusted name in senior care for over a century and an affiliate of Legacy Lifecare, recently paid tribute to Carol Kelly, the beloved Campus-Wide Life Enrichment Director who retired after nearly 40 years.
Staff, residents, family members and community leaders came together to honor Carol for her amazing dedication, relentless advocacy and kind spirit. Carol has had a tremendous impact upon the German Centre’s residents, staff and the surrounding West Roxbury community.
The roster of speakers was indeed impressive. Over the years, Carol has held a variety of positions at German Centre, starting out as a Certified Nurse Technician and working her way into the Director of Memory Care role. She was promoted to Campus-Wide Activity Director in 2010. In addition, Carol was actively involved in community relations, where she helped build strong connections with local politicians, many of whom visited the Centre to take part in holiday observances and events.
Carol Kelly was also instrumental in launching three of German Centre’s most cherished traditions: the annual Family Fun Day celebration, the Holiday Tree Lighting and the Veterans Day program. All three of these events continue to flourish year after year and bring joy and meaning to the West Roxbury community.

For Carol, the retirement party was both meaningful and emotional. “This was such a beautiful celebration— a true reminder of how special my time at German Centre has been,” noted Kelly. “Seeing so many familiar faces, from my past and my present, meant the world to me. It wasn’t just a farewell to a job, but rather a celebration of friendships, memories, and the wonderful people I have had the privilege to work with for all these years.”
