5 Things: Burger Wars! And Parkway Hall of Fame Inductees

West Roxbury Main Streets 2nd Burger Wars starts today with 11 West Roxbury restaurants offering up their best burger to be determined by a survey and sales.

 

  1. West Roxbury Main Streets 2nd Burger Wars starts today with 11 West Roxbury restaurants offering up their best burger to be determined by a survey and sales. For each burger sold, and prices vary at each restaurant, $1 will go to West Roxbury Main Street's continual revitatization efforts. Started on June 14 and ends on June 23. The following are the participating restaurants: Porter Cafe, West on Centre, Masona Grill, Rox Diner, West Roxbury Pub and Restaurant, DeNo's, Red-Eyed Pig, The Real Deal, Marino's Market and Deli, West Napoli, and the Spring Street Cafe. Click here for the West Roxbury Main Street's survey to choose which restaurant makes the best burger in the neighborhood.
  2. Next Saturday is a Parkway People fundraiser at the Irish Social Club on June 22 from 7-11 p.m. The proceeds fund scholarships for Parkway-area students. About 25 people will be inducted into the Parkway Hall of Fame. Tickets are $10 at http://parkwaypeople.org/ and $20 at the door. Parkway People is a community group formed last year with a mission of “Building a stronger community through communication and support of small business.”

  4. Space is still available for any 11- and 12-year-old who would like to play in Cooperstown with the Boston Parkway Club. Please contact Dennis O'Connor at denjohnjr@aol.com if you are interested. The trip is August 9-16, 2013.
  5. There will be a Football and Cheerleading Activity Week sponsored by The Link:Boston and Parkway Pop Warner from July 8 to 12. 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Billings Field. $50 per participant. Non-contact for ages 7- to 15-years-old. Football participants will be learning skills, doing drills, and playing games; Calisthenics, individual and team skills including offense, defense and special teams. Cheerleading participants will be learning cheer drill and skills, and routines. Sign up through the Parkway Pop Warner website or call 617-763-9650.
