5 Things: Parkway People Fundraiser; Garden Tour in West Roxbury
West Roxbury Main Streets 2nd Burger Wars started June 14 and ends on June 23 with 11 West Roxbury restaurants offering up their best burger to be determined by a survey and sales.
- Buy tickets and read the preview for this Saturday's Evening Garden Club of West Roxbury tour- that is actually during the day. The tour is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the tour features six unique residential gardens, as well as three public sites. Tour tickets are $15 in advance, or $18 if purchased on the day of the tour and are available at three Centre Street businesses: Maria Lisa Bridal & Boutique, and Picture This. Tickets can also be purchased at the West Roxbury Public Library and other tour sites on the day of the tour.
- West Roxbury Main Streets 2nd Burger Wars started June 14 and ends on June 23 with 11 West Roxbury restaurants offering up their best burger to be determined by a survey and sales. For each burger sold, and prices vary at each restaurant, $1 will go to West Roxbury Main Street's continual revitatization efforts. The following are the participating restaurants: Porter Cafe, West on Centre, Masona Grill, Rox Diner, West Roxbury Pub and Restaurant, DeNo's, Red-Eyed Pig, The Real Deal, Marino's Market and Deli, West Napoli, and the Spring Street Cafe. - On Saturday is a Parkway People fundraiser at the Irish Social Club on June 22 from 7-11 p.m. The proceeds fund scholarships for Parkway-area students. About 25 people will be inducted into the Parkway Hall of Fame. Tickets are $10 at http://parkwaypeople.org/ and $20 at the door. Parkway People is a community group formed last year with a mission of “Building a stronger community through communication and support of small business.”
