Boston Police District E-5 West Roxbury: Two Suspects In Custody Following BPD Response To Vandalism In Progress In West Roxbury

At about 7:08 AM on Sunday, November 28, 2021, officers assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a vandalism in progress in the area of 4557 Washington Street. On arrival, officers spoke to an adult male victim who stated that two suspects had used spray paint to ‘tag’ his motor vehicle while he was stopped at a red light.

As the officers began to canvass the area, they soon observed the suspects spray painting the wall of a business near the intersection of Belgrade Avenue and Walworth Street. As the officers approached, the two suspects fled on foot in different directions. One of the suspects, later identified as Alejandro Perez-Hobrecker, 27, of West Roxbury, appeared to be clutching a knife in his hand as he fled.
Officers pursued the armed suspect and placed him in custody after a lengthy foot chase which resulted in a brief struggle in the area of Healy Field. The second suspect, Ivan Richiez, 29, of Roslindale, was placed in custody without incident a short time later. During the course of their investigation, the officers recovered several cans of spray paint but were unable to locate the knife which had been discarded by the suspect as he fled.

Both suspects will be charged in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Damage to Property by Graffiti and Destruction or Injury of Personal Property. Perez-Hobrecker will additionally be charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
