Home Depot Cashier Arrested for Not Scanning Merchandise

A Home Depot employee in West Roxbury was allegedly caught on video not scanning more than $1,900 of merchandise in allowing two men to leave the store without paying for the majority of their purchase.
On June 5, at 4:40 p.m., Warren David Williams, of 368 Bowdoin St., Dorchester, was arrested and charged with larceny of $200 and more, according to a Boston Police report.

Boston Police met with a loss prevention officer for Home Depot who had the suspect, an employee of the store, in an office. The loss prevention officer said he saw two males loading up a flat cart around the store with expensive merchandise, and then went to the suspect's register. The suspect only charged the two men $111.40 for $2,069.96 of merchandise, according to video surveillance. The video was provided to Boston Police. The loss prevention officer also stood near the register during the questionable purchase.
The suspect told police he did not know the two men and that he was careless while scanning, and that he had made a mistake, according to a police report.
