Photos: Politicians at 20th Corrib Classic 5K in West Roxbury
Gabriel Gomez, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, was the highest profile candidate at the event - and the former Navy Seal also ran the race.
This year's Boston political season is as hot as Sunday's almost 90-degree weather. While Sunday's Dorchester Day Parade was the premier Boston event to be seen, candidates and their supporters were still out in force at the 20th annual Corrib Classic 5K Road Race in West Roxbury.
Candidates and elected officials spotted by West Roxbury Patch included Republican U.S. Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez (who also ran the race), At-Large City Councilor and mayoral candidate John Connolly, state Rep. Ed Coppinger, D-West Roxbury (who also ran the race in a last 30-minute decision), and state Sen. Mike Rush, D-Norfolk/Suffolk.

Gomez and Connolly were on their way to the Dorchester Day Parde, which was to start at 1 p.m., while the Corrib race started at noon from Billings Field.
District 6 City Council candidate Luis Valerio, and at-large city council candidate Michael Flaherty, were also seen among the crowd.

In terms of visibility, the four corners of the intersection of LaGrange and Centre streets, featured four campaigns. Boston mayoral candidates Dan Conley, John Connolly, and Martin Walsh, and Gomez's campaign, greeted drivers and the crowd as folks went by.
Of course, the Lord Mayor of West Roxbury Richie Gormley was also onhand greeting residents and making things were running smoothly.
