As Spectra Energy moves along with its construction of a natural gas pipeline in West Roxbury, dozens of protestors gathered again over the weekend to make their voices heard.

Residents who live in the area of Washington and Grove Streets gathered in an effort to stop the construction, which is being conducted in the vicinity of an active blasting quarry. Many feel the project creates a threat to their health, safety, and fear a disastrous situation.

Protestors carried anti-pipeline signs and chanted “We don’t need it and we don’t want.”

“This pipeline goes right up this street and stopping by the quarry where the blasting takes place, which has caused damage to homes for years here,” Paul Corn told WBZ News.

Construction of the pipeline, a 37-mile extension of the Algonquin Gas Transmission pipeline, is underway in Dedham and Westwood as well.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has spoken out against the federally sanctioned project in the past.

Several protestors have been arrested since groups started gathering at the construction site.
