Roslindale Village Farmers' Market Opening Day Today!
Fresh farm produce, specialty foods, craft vendors, live music and a clown! The market opens at 9 a.m. at Adams Park and ends at 1:30 p.m.
Fresh local produce from several farms, live music, and a Boston Marathon bombing hero, are all a part of the 2013 Roslindale Village Farmers’ Market opening day.
The market opens at 9 a.m. at Adams Park and ends at 1:30 p.m. The outside market features 12 (throughout the season) small and large farms including Allandale Farm in Brookline/Boston selling organic produce and flowers, Brookwood Community Farm in Milton selling produce and seedlings, the John Crow Farm in Groton selling grass-fed sheep and cattle products, and pastured pork and poultry products. There are also food specialty vendors including Alex’s Ugly Sauce from Roslindale, which is a "small batch, artisanal hot sauce", and Purely Pears, fresh, organic baby good made by a Roslindale resident. Click here for a full list of food specialty vendors.

Every week there is children’s entertainment that starts at 10 a.m., with Davey the Clown kicking it off this week. Also, all live music starts at 11 a.m. with musical group Opposite People, playing this week.
Each week the market features a theme day, with Opening Day also being Customer Appreciation Day. Each participating Roslindale Village business is offering their own unique deals and specials as a way of saying thank you for shopping locally. "RVMS is thrilled that Carlos and Melida Arredondo have agreed to join us on Opening Day of the Farmers’ Market and to help kick-off the event by cutting the ceremonial ribbon," said Christina DiLisio, executive director of Roslindale Village Main Street. "Carlos and Melida have been Roslindale Farmers’ Market enthusiasts for years – given this, and given Carlos’ role in the recovery efforts of the Marathon Monday bombing, it seemed only natural that RVMS honor and thank them in this way."

Other special events include at Agricultural Hall Gardening and Canning Workshop, and On the Edge Knife Sharpening demonstration. Also talk to the folks at the GreeningRozzie table at the market to join the citywide Boston 500 - day of action to save energy, money and our planet.
