Acclaimed Poet Richard Blanco to Read in Westwood, Thurs., February 22

Richard Blanco reads his poetry in Spanish and English speaks on his growing up in Miami as a Cuban-American immigrant—free,open to public.

The Westwood Public Library presents a Children’s Poetry Festival at the Westwood Public Library February 20-22. Adults are also invited to the Richard Blanco headliner event on Thursday February 22, 1:30 PM

Intended for students grades two through five, the small group festival events include a poetry mini-workshop with poet Nancy Tupper Ling, a session on writing lyrics for music with featured guitarist Sam Schmitz, arts and crafts and a poetry story hour. On Thursday February 22, acclaimed poet Richard Blanco will read his children’s poetry book, One Today, illustrated by Dav Pilkey, and a selection of other poems in English and Spanish. Blanco’s presentation will also include stories of his Miami childhood and a Q & A session. His books will be available for purchase and author signing.
