Teams from all over the area played three games in Saturday’s pool play to determine bracket seeding for Sunday. Brianna Coffey, Lucy Mitchell, and Skylar Mosca lead off the hitting in game one vs. Raynham All Stars. Game two showcased great performances by catcher Maia Basto, and infielders Payton Mercy and Regan Briller, who helped turn a rare triple play in the 3rd inning. Game three featured a breakout performance by catcher Oliva Rice. With the help of MVP performances by Aria Moebius, Caitlin Maquire, and Madelyn Minerva, Westwood secured the fifth seed heading into Sunday's quarterfinal.

On Sunday, Westwood opened up with an impressive 17-6 victory over the Bellingham Blaze. Taylor Koukkos started the game with a two-run double and ended up with three runs batted in on two hits for the day. Game MVP Maeve Bent led the way with two hits, two runs batted in, and two runs scored while turning an impressive double play.

Waiting in the semifinal was the top-seeded, and eventual tournament winner, Bumblebee’s from Tilton, NH. Lydia Halaby turned in an MVP performance against the seasoned Bumblebee’s; however, Westwood came up just short of making it to the finals.

Reflecting on the weekend, the team gained invaluable experience that will lead to future success on the softball diamond. Most importantly, the team had a lot of fun on the field, on the bench, and- of course- at the snack shack.
