Westwood Pizza Shop Organizes GoFundMe For Employee Hit By Car

The owner of Islington Pizza in Westwood is asking for donations to help a seriously injured employee who was struck by a car.

The impact of the crash left Torres seriously injured and will keep him out of work for weeks, Tassiopoulos said, adding that he has a two-year-old son and a wife who is out of work.

WESTWOOD, MA — The owner of a pizza shop in Westwood set up a GoFundMe for one of her employees after he was hit by a car two weeks ago.

Maria Tassiopoulos says Kevin Torres was crossing Washington Street while on his lunch break from his job at Islington Pizza when he was struck by a car and flown to a Boston hospital for medical treatment.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, a blue Kia SUV, did stay at the scene, the district attorney's office said.

"While insurance will take care of some of his hospital bills, he will still have to pay out of pocket for additional medical expenses, and with no money coming in, we want Kevin to be able to stay home and fully recover without worrying about his finances," Tassiopoulos said.
