Westwood Special Olympics Coach Has Perfect GPA: Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Westwood.

WESTWOOD, MA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Liz Williamson who nominated Holden, a 12th grader from Westwood.

How do you know the star local student?
My son
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Holden has worked very hard and has maintained a perfect GPA of 4.5 (all A's) since beginning high school. He has taken 10 AP level classes and only honors level in his other classes. He has earned the state seal of bi-literacy in both Spanish and Latin. He plays 2 varsity sports (golf and lacrosse), is in leadership of his school's Model UN club, worked on the creation and implementation of an orientation for incoming freshman, is on legislative council, has been asked by the administration of his school to be a student interviewer for teacher candidates and to speak at teacher trainings as a student representative, and works at the Westwood Recreation Department as a lifeguard throughout the school year and summers.
Holden has been a well respected and beloved coach with the Metro West Flyers Special Olympics group out of Framingham for 4 years. He coaches every Sunday either bowling, track and field or cornhole depending on the season. Holden volunteered with Challenger Sports of Norwood prior to Special Olympics and coached soccer and basketball to individuals with special needs. In the summers Holden in addition to his life guarding job works as a caddy at a local golf club. Holden is the oldest of our 3 children and has been an exemplary role model for his younger siblings. Holden hopes to study either Biomedical or Chemical Engineering in college.
Currently, he has been accepted to the Engineering program at Villanova and is waiting to hear from the other schools he has applied to. I truly believe that Holden is the type of young man who should be honored for not only his accomplishments in school but also for the wonderful human being he is. We could not be more proud.
