ELM Action Fund Endorses Joan Meschino for Open State Senate Seat

The ELM Action Fund endorses Meschino for her "strong support on environmental issues," as announced Friday, April 8.

The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund (ELM Action Fund) is proud to endorse Joan Meschino in the Democratic Primary for the open State Senate seat in the Plymouth and Norfolk district. The district includes the communities of Weymouth, Hingham, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, Norwell, Marshfield and Duxbury. The primary will be held on Tuesday, April 12.

“We are endorsing Joan Meschino because of her strong support on environmental issues, her impressive record of leadership as a selectwoman in Hull and her commitment to addressing the adverse impacts of climate change on coastal communities,” stated ELM Action Fund Political Director Joe O’Brien.

With critical issues of energy policy and environmental protection currently being debated in the legislature, the leadership of the ELM Action Fund believes it is important to add strong environmental advocates like Joan Meschino to the Senate.

“Joan Meschino understands the importance of our state investing in clean energy, sustainable transportation, and parks to help address climate change, create jobs and build healthier communities,” stated ELM Action Fund President George Bachrach.

Meschino is a lifelong resident of the district and worked on her father's lobster boat to put herself through Harvard University and then later earned her Juris Doctor at the University of New Hampshire School of Law. She was employed until the election as the Executive Director for the Massachusetts Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, Inc., a public interest law center that promotes equal rights and opportunities for Massachusetts residents.
