Weymouth Woman Jailed For Killing Kitten

Eleanor Campbell, of North Weymouth, admitted she beat her kitten to death in 2016.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A woman from North Weymouth was sentenced to jail this week after admitting that she beat her kitten to death in 2016. Eleanor Campbell, 38, admitted she killed the kitten on the day that she was scheduled to stand trial in connection with the incident, according to Norfolk District Attorney's Office. She was sentenced to a year in jail, with 6 months of that sentence committed and the rest suspended for two years.

Campbell was set to stand trial on Wednesday, but instead admitted her guilt, said Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey. He said the necessary witnesses to the incident were ready to testify at Quincy District Court.

Police learned about the 2016 incident after Campbell's neighbors reported a disturbance, Morrissey said.
"It was then that they found the remains of the kitten in the driveway in terrible condition," he said.

After being sentenced to jail by Judge Diane Moriarty, Campbell was taken into custody by law enforcement officials in the courtroom. She began serving her sentence on Thursday.
