1 Dead, 1 Seriously Hurt In House Fire

Fire crews are investigating a fire at a home at Linwood Street in Abington that sent one person to the hospital and left a woman dead.

ABINGTON, MA — A woman was killed, and a man was left in serious condition after a house caught fire on Linwood Street in Abington early Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded to 736 Linwood Street around 3:45 a.m. to find an active fire with flames coming through the roof, Abington Fire Chief John Nuttall said.

A woman was found dead inside the home when fire crews arrived on the scene, Nuttall added.

Another person who lived inside was able to escape and was taken to Brockton Hospital with what Nuttall called serious injuries.

Rockland Fire Department assisted Abington fire crews in putting out the blaze, but crews were still putting out hot spots at 7 a.m.

A state police fire and explosion investigation unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating with the Abington Fire Department.
