โ€ข Community Health Center CEO discusses โ€˜sea of changes' coming to health care (recorder.com) โ€” Residents gathered at Whately Town Hall to hear Community Health Center of Franklin County CEO Dr. Allison van der Velden explain how the new One Big Beautiful Bill Act could shrink MassHealth coverage and raise local uninsured rates. She warned of more complex eligibility paperwork, funding shortfalls, and higher out-of-pocket costs that may push people to delay care and rely more on emergency rooms.
   

โ€ข Though disbanded after 42 years, Pelham Lions Club's work lives on through Sidney F. Smith Toy Fund (gazettenet.com) โ€” Whately families with children ages 1 to 14 can qualify for $65 toy vouchers through the long-running Sidney F. Smith Toy Fund, which serves parts of Hampshire and southern Franklin counties. Though Pelhamโ€™s Lions Club has disbanded, its legacy continues in donations that help keep this regional holiday program going for communities like Whately.
