Relay For Life Committee Finalizes Expanded Agenda for June 19 Event

Relay For Life of Wilmington kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 19 at the Wilmington Middle School and is open to the public.

The final count down of the last days before the June 19 Relay For Life of Wilmington has begun. This is the seventh year for the town’s popular family fun event, and some new things have been added. So far, this event has raised well over $852,000 to support the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer.

An expanded list of activities for children includes the new Snowie Bus by Busy Bee Jumpers of Whitman, MA. This well-known food truck really appeals to all ages. People purchase a snow cone and then add and mix their own flavors. Everything from Wild Cherry and Watermelon to Cotton Candy and Peach are available.

This year’s list of speakers includes Ms Mary DeLai, Wilmington Superintendent of Schools, who is finishing up her first year in this key town position. She will be addressing the crowd during the opening ceremony which begins at 5:30 p.m. that Friday. It’s a chance to hear from and meet one of out town’s newest administrators.

The June 19 Relay For Life will be held at the Wilmington Middle School and is open to the public. After the Opening Ceremony, the focus shifts to honoring survivors and caregivers. Later that evening there is also a very beautiful and poignant Luminaria Ceremony. Activities and entertainment continue throughout the event. There will be games, music, and much more. It’s fun for the whole family. Come join the fight against cancer.
