• Winchester finalizes contract with new town manager, sets Jan. 14 start date (winchesternews.org) — Winchester has finalized a two-year contract with new town manager Christopher Senior, who will start work on Jan. 14 after months of interim leadership. His arrival ends a prolonged vacancy that has delayed budget planning, department head reviews, and union negotiations, and allows a short overlap with acting town manager MaryEllen Marshall to manage key deadlines.

• State Representative Christine Barber, Somerville Democrat, to seek state Senate seat (bostonglobe.com) — Winchester residents may see a familiar name in the next state Senate race, as Winchester School Committee member Tom Hopcroft has filed to run alongside several Somerville- and Cambridge-based Democrats. The seat will be open in the 2026 regular elections, with current state Rep. Christine Barber of Somerville announcing her own bid and highlighting her legislative work on health care costs, immigration-related driver’s licenses, and transit and safety funding.
