Police Logs: $2500 Bike Stolen

Friday, May 25

10:25 a.m.: A Chevy Malibu struck a Toyota Corolla while backing up on Church Street. The driver of the Corolla was stopped on Dix Street and tried to warn the driver by honking the horn. Both vehicles suffered minor damage.

1:30 p.m.: Winchester police responded to a single-car accident where the driver of a 2005 Honda hopped the curb on Washington Street and struck a tree on . The driver told officers he intended to put the vehicle in reverse, but instead placed it in drive causing minor damage to the vehicle and tree.

4:37 p.m.: A black Gary Fisher Mountain Bike valued at $2,500 was reported stolen from the on Cambridge Street. The bike’s owner reported he felt threatened by other youths who would not let him enter through the Everett Avenue entrance Saturday afternoon. He then parked his bike without locking it against a utility pole further down Everett Avenue. One of the youths made a rude comment toward him while he entered the club. It was when he returned that he saw his bike was missing. When his father said he reported the incident to the boat club, he learned that two teenagers who were not members were on the grounds earlier that day.

12:14 p.m.: A Nissan Altima rear-ended a VW Jetta at the Cambridge and High street intersection. Both vehicles had minor damage. Both drivers said there was traffic caused by distracted drivers looking at a yard sale. 

Monday, May 28 

10:30 a.m.: A student driver in a Ford Focus was rear-ended by a Honda Accord on Palmer Street. The report said the driver of the Accord was apparently not paying attention prior to the accident.

Tuesday, May 29

9:59 a.m.: A Verizon bucket truck knocked over a fire alarm pull box on Palmer Street Friday, May 25. Fire Fighter John Dooley reported the damage.

Wednesday, May 30

1:30 a.m.: The driver of a 2001 Honda lost control of the vehicle while traveling 10 mph over the speed limit on Cambridge Street and struck the curb, fence, shrubs and utility pole. The road was wet was from the rain. The driver first refused medical help, but was later transported to with head pain.
