The following information is supplied by the Winchester Police Department. These do not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Aug. 3

2:49 p.m.: A Nathaniel Road resident reported a purse either lost or stolen. The resident said she placed her purse in her scooter basket, but could not locate it when she arrived at her destination. The house and route was searched, but nothing was found. The purse contained a license, social security card, $100 cash and credit card.

8:08 p.m.: A Camry received a flat tire and damage to its rim after driving over an exposed manhole on Cambridge Street. Police tried to fix the cover, but a Massachusetts Department of Transportation representative said it was the wrong cover for the manhole. The D.O.T. representative laid asphalt and said a crew would return Monday for a permanent solution.

1:15 p.m.: Police attempted to arrest a Winchester resident after she violated her harassment protection order by continuing to bang on the walls and yell at her Highland Avenue neighbor Saturday morning. The resident, whose mother is the landlord for the victim, was reported yelling, “You’re not paying enough for rent, and you’re taking advantage of an old lady,” and “You three are sneaks.”

The victim told police this has happened repeatedly, and after an unsuccessful attempt of trying to resolve this issue alone, she called the police because she felt intimidated. Officers gave the victim a victim/witness form.

Because the resident violated the harassment protection order, officers said there was probable cause for an arrest. Officers were unable to arrest her because she was not home, and they were called to another emergency.

A criminal complaint was filed and an order to report to the Woburn District Court for the violation.

12:54 a.m.: Lauren Welch, 25, of Medford was arrested for Operating under the Influence after leaving a bridal shower in Burlington. Another driver reported her erratic driving to the before officers pulled her over on Cambridge Street at approximately 11:52 p.m. An officer said he noticed the Subaru cross the yellow line by a couple of feet several times, delay to go through a red light and make a left-hand turn without a signal on the wrong side of a traffic island. She also had a solo cup in her car, which she told the officers contained Vodka and Diet Coke.

Welch failed the Field Sobriety Tests and Breathalyzer Test with a .23 blood alcohol content. Her license was suspended, and she was cited for an OUI, open container of alcohol, failure to stay in marked lanes and failure to use turn signal while turning left.
