Why Did Michael Day Avoid My Simple Question?
In Letter to the Editor, Resident says her question at Winchester Town Day was avoided by Day.

A Letter to the Editor from Winchester's Mary B. Cabral:
During Town Day I spoke with Representative Michael Day. I asked him how he felt about Massachusetts becoming a Sanctuary state, he replied “It will never happen.”
After listening to his response, I told him that I wanted to know how he felt about it and not whether it would happen. Mr. Day again replied “It would never happen.” I told him that Caroline Colarusso had visited our booth that same day and when I asked her the same question she directly replied that she was against Massachusetts becoming a Sanctuary state. I explained to Mr. Day that I wanted to know his position and for the third time he evaded my question by answering “It will never happen.”

After having asked Mr. Day a simple question three times that required a simple “Yes, I support Massachusetts becoming a Sanctuary state” or “No, I am against Massachusetts becoming a Sanctuary state” I just wanted to know his position on this very important issue. My fourth question was, “Are you going to answer my question? ” For the 4th time he said, “It will never happen.”
It is discouraging when incumbents safely nestled in office don’t feel that they have to give an honest response to constituents when a question is asked. This is why I decided to support Caroline Colarusso. She came to my door and asked if I had any questions for her. She has been knocking on doors throughout Winchester. She shakes your hand and looks you in the eye while stating her positions. I also received her card in the mail which clearly states that she opposes Massachusetts becoming a Sanctuary state and all Sanctuary cities.

I want elected officials to respond to simple questions and clearly state their positions whether I agree with them or not. I have never met a politician with whom I agreed 1000% on the issues, but I do expect issues as important as becoming a Sanctuary state/city to warrant a reply. Having moved to Winchester from Somerville, a Sanctuary city, I must say that Winchester and Stoneham will drastically change, and that change will impact crime, drugs, education and our taxes, if Massachusetts becomes a Sanctuary state. I am supporting Caroline Colarusso because she will do what has to be done to keep us, our families and our towns safe as our State Representative.
