Winchester Sachems Trounce Wilmington in Season Opener

The Sachems posted a 29-6 win over the Wildcats in their season opening tilt over the weekend.

The Winchester Sachems varsity football squad opened their season with a blowout win over the Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at Knowlton Stadium.

Winchester dominated the ground game on their way to an impressive 29-6 win. Running back Samuel Casey found pay dirt on two occasions and quarterback Liam Fitzpatrick scampered for a pair of his own touchdowns.

The Sachems defense was equally impressive, allowing just six points over the course of 40 minutes. They did not allow a point until the final quarter of play.

Winchester will next be in action on Friday, September 18, when they visit Malden Catholic at 7 p.m.
