• Deadline to reshape Mass. housing is almost here. Map shows where towns stand (masslive.com) — Winthrop is among a handful of Massachusetts communities still out of compliance with the MBTA Communities housing law, and it has already lost about $1.2 million in state resilience funding as a result. As the Dec. 31 deadline looms, state officials are weighing how hard to push noncompliant towns, while some communities continue legal and political fights over the mandate to allow more multifamily housing.
