Absentee Ballots Available for Special State Primary

Not going to be around for the special state primary to choose candidates to run for John Kerry's seat? Here is how to vote.

The City of Woburn has absentee ballots available for those who won't be able to make it to the polls for the special state primary to decide party candidates to run for former Senator John Kerry's seat.

According to a notice on the city's web site, absentee ballots are now available for all voters for the Special State Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, April 30 to fill the vacancy in the office of U.S. Senator from Massachusetts.

The deadline for filing an application for an absentee ballot is Monday, April 29,  at noon. A written application must be filed by all voters seeking to vote by absentee ballot. Ballots may be mailed to voters upon written request or a voter may vote by absentee ballot in the office of the City Clerk in City Hall.

To be eligible to vote by absentee ballot, the voter must be out of the city during the hours the polls are open, have a physical inability to get to the polls, or have a religious belief that prohibits the voter from voting on election day.

Independent voters must choose a party ballot, Democratic and Republican voters can only vote the ballot of their party. For information, including an absentee ballot form to download, follow the link or call the City Clerk’s office at (781) 897-5850
