Women's Self Defense Seminar

Learn how to defend yourself in a safe and friendly environment.

Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts at 10 Walnut St. is offering a six-hour women's self defense seminar this May taught by two martial arts teachers with over 50 years combined experience is self-defense training. 

The seminar will feature a combination of verbal lessons and hands-on training with basic but effective self-defense techniques.

Participants will learn: 

  • How to be aware of your situation
  • Tips on avoiding becoming a victim
  • How to reduce risk
  • How to use your environment for defense 
  • How not to become a victim without the need for violence
  • Basic martial arts strikes
  • How to get out of holds/pins 
  • Escape techniques

The classes are for women 13 years of age and older. The cost is $80 for two 1.5-hour sessions. Pre-register by May 1 for a free gift.

There are two seminar times available, which will meet in two consecutive weeks.

Seminar 1: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 10 and Friday, May 17. 

Seminar 2: 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 and Saturday, May 18.

The instructors:

Shihan Marco Mazzola (6th-degree black belt) - Shihan Mazzola has over 29 years of experience in various styles of martial arts including Kenpo and Shotokan. In 2007 Mazzola formed Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts in order to bring his unique vision of the martial arts to a new generation of students. Shihan Marco achieved his 6th Degree Black belt in 2010.

Sensei Richard Hosford (5th-degree black belt) - Sensei Hosford has trained in American Kempo karate for over 21 years. He also has experience in Shotokan karate and has previously taught women's self defense seminars. Sensei Hosford earned his 5th Degree Black best in 2010.
