Chuck Flaherty To Return As Interim Woburn Library Director
Flaherty will begin his second term as the library's interim director Tuesday, the mayor said.
WOBURN, MA — Chuck Flaherty will rejoin the Woburn Public Library as interim director Tuesday, Mayor Scott Galvin said Friday.
Flaherty previously served as the interim director prior to Bonnie Roalsen joining the library in 2019.
Flaherty, who now works as a library consultant, previously served as Brookline Public Library Director for nearly two decades. He has also done stints as interim director in Wellesly and Dedham.

Roalsen submitted her resignation Feb. 16 amid a battle over control of the library. The assistant director also resigned.
Galvin notched another victory in that battle Tuesday when Woburn City Council approved two nominations he had made for new trustees. The council voted Tuesday to confirm Laurence Rideout to replace Carol Seitz while Emily Lipsett to replace William Callahan on the board.

Legislation Galvin introduced to give him the authority to appoint and remove the director was also approved by the council recently, although that bill also requires state approval.
