Obituary: Paul Welch, World War II Veteran, Longtime Woburn Resident

Services will be held on Friday, July 17 at 9:15 a.m.

Paul Welch, a longtime Woburn resident and World War II veteran, died on Monday, July 13. He was 88 years old.

Welch, born in Boston, was one of five children and a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1945. Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country as a Fireman First Class during the Second World War.

After returning home, Welch married his wife, Anna, in 1954 and the two lived in Medford before moving to North Woburn seven years later. They remained in Woburn for many years. Paul Welch was a father to three children.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; his children, Diane M. Welch and her husband Stephen Rossi of Burlington, James P. Welch of Woburn, and Linda J. Welch and her husband Randy Cross of ME; his brother, Robert Welch and his wife Joan of Malden; and his grandson, Shane P. Welch of Burlington.

Funeral services will take place at Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St. in Woburn, on Friday, July 17, at 9:15 a.m. A funeral mass will follow in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn at 10 a.m.
