Permits Issued For 425-Unit Apartment Building In Woburn

Plans to create a large multifamily housing development on New Boston Street are moving forward.

WOBURN, MA — Building permits have been issued for a 425-unity multifamily project on New Boston Street in Woburn, according to city records.

The project will be built by San Diego-based developer Fairfield Residential. Fifteen percent of the units will be reserved as affordable housing, according to ReBusiness Online. Those that qualify for affordable housing earn 80 percent or less of the area's median income.

The land at 316 New Boston St. was sold for $23.4 million. The 20-acre site is the former home of New England Resins, a chemicals, paints, and epoxy manufacturer and distributor. The development, which was presented to the city council in February, is a transit-oriented project that is part of revitalizing the New Boston Street corridor, Middlesex East reported.
