POLICE LOG: Driver Drops Glasses, Hits House

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Featured Call of the Day:

Nov. 3 – At 12:46 a.m., police were dispatched to a single-car crash on Alfred Street near Fletcher Road. According to police, the 33-year-old driver said he had dropped his glasses and went off the roadway as he reached to the floor to get them. As he veered off the road, police said, he struck a pedestrian sign, an Alfred Street house, and two parked cars, before coming to a stop. The driver was cited for failure to drive within marked lanes.

Nov. 1 –

At 11:20 p.m., police officers observed a car running on Abbott Street and smelled burnt marijuana. Police spoke to the occupants and confiscated the marijuana.

Nov. 2 –

At 9:27 a.m., a Woburn woman reported a UPS package containing jewelry was stolen from in front of her Kimball Court apartment.

At 10:17 a.m., a Winchester woman reported her car damaged while parked in the Four Corners parking lot.

At 10:41 a.m., a Harrison Avenue man reported all four tires of his vehicle slashed while the car was parked in his driveway. The man told police he had not operated the car in two weeks and it was being used by his adult son.

At 10:51 a.m., police were called to Washington Street for a report of a two-car accident. According to police, one driver was exiting the Hess Gas Station when it struck a car driving on Washington. There were no reported injuries.

At 12:12 p.m., police responded to a single-car crash on Pleasant Street. According to police, a car was stopped on North Warren Street near a Pleasant Street home, when the car moved forward and crashed into the Pleasant Street home’s garage. Police found the driver “slumped over the wheel” but were able to revive the man. The man was taken to Winchester Hospital.

At 1:14 p.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident on Mishawum Road. According to police, one car rear-ended another due to driver “inattention.” There were no reported injuries.

At 3:56 p.m., a 54-year-old Woburn man was taken into protective custody after police observed a man lying on the ground behind D&L Liquors. According to police, the officers attempted to bring the man to a relative’s home, but the man was unable to tell them where that person lived due to his intoxicated state. Police then took the man into protective custody.

At 6:03 p.m., a Wilmington woman reported she hit a deer while driving on Presidential Way. The woman told police the deer ran into the woods after the accident.

At 6:23 p.m., police responded to a report of a cyclist struck by a car at Main and Green streets.

At 6:35 p.m., police were called to Main and Lowell streets for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car. According to police, a driver hit the person as she was attempting to cross Main Street. Police reported the car traveled approximately 39 feet after hitting the woman, and the woman was thrown onto the car’s windshield and the street. The driver told police that she did not see anything due to heavy rain and because she was not wearing her glasses. The pedestrian was taken to Lahey Clinic with non-life threatening injuries, said police. The driver was cited for failure to stop/slow for a pedestrian in the crosswalk, said police.

At 8:09 p.m., police responded to a single-car crash on Main Street at Mishawum Road. According to police, the car’s tires “locked up,” causing the car to skid into a utility pole on Main Street. One passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Winchester Hospital.

At 11:33 p.m., Michelle Cecilia DiFelice, 31, of 25 Country Road in Tewksbury, was arrested and charged on an outstanding warrant. According to police, officers were dispatched to Cambridge Road for a report of two women arguing in the Crescent Park Condos parking lot. Police escorted the two women to a Continental Court location. However, police learned that DiFelice had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest and placed her in custody.

Nov. 3 –

At 7:20 a.m., a Woburn woman reported her car damaged overnight while parked on Burlington Street. According to police, someone threw a pumpkin at the car, causing a large dent.

At 8:18 a.m., a Water Street woman reported her fence damaged overnight. According to police, it appeared that a vehicle backed into the fence, knocking out several slats in the fence.

At 9:46 a.m., a Garden Street man reported his car damaged overnight. According to police, a pumpkin was thrown at the vehicle, likely from a moving car, smashing the front windshield.

At 12:05 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash in the Pleasant Street rotary at Winn Street. There were no reported injuries.

At 1:52 p.m., a Woburn woman reported two unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account. The debit card used was cancelled immediately, said police.

At 2:52 p.m., police were called to a two-car crash at Main Street and Place Lane.

At 3:59 p.m., a Wakefield woman reported her daughter’s iPhone stolen from a purse at Woburn Memorial High School during a cheerleading competition.

At 7:43 p.m., police assisted Woburn Fire with a medical call.

Nov. 4 –

At 7:28 a.m., a Burlington Street woman reported her car vandalized overnight. According to police, the car was hit with a pumpkin, which smashed the windshield of the car. A neighbor told police he heard a loud noise around 4:15 in the morning.

At 4:32 p.m., police responded to an Inwood Drive apartment for a report of an unwanted party. One man was escorted from the building by officers.

At 6:08 p.m., a School Street resident reported a radio face-plate stolen from his unlocked car.

At 8:01 p.m., a 49-year-old Woburn man was taken into protective custody after police received a report that he had returned to Inwood Drive after police escorted him from the area earlier. The man was intoxicated and was taken into protective custody.
