POLICE LOG: 'Drugged' Driver Hits Car Head On

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Oct. 16 – At 12:43 p.m., Timothy J. Martin, 24, of 2 Eustis St. in Stoneham, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug (heroin), operating while under the influence of drugs with serious injury and negligent operation, a marked lanes violation and speeding. According to police, officers responded to a two-car accident on Mishawum Road. Police said Martin was speeding when his car crossed the double yellow line and hit a car head on. The second car was forced into a utility pole. One driver was transported to Lahey Clinic with “significant” injuries.

Oct. 15 –

At 1:16 p.m., police summonsed a 22-year-old Pembroke resident to Woburn District Court for larceny over $250. According to police, a woman was seen exiting Kohl’s with several items, including jeans, jewelry, and shirts. Police reported that video surveillance showed that the woman spent 45 minutes in a fitting room, and exited with several pieces of clothing layered on her body.   

Oct. 16 –

At 7:23 a.m., police responded to a report of a cyclist struck by a car at Main Street at Montvale Avenue. According to police, the bicyclist was coming from Common Street, which had a red light at the time. The man told police he thought he had enough time to proceed, but he was struck by a car. The driver said she did not see the cyclist. The man reported a minor injury to his knee.

At 8:04 a.m., police were dispatched to a three-car accident at Main Street in which one car was flipped onto its side. According to police, one car was crossing Main Street when the driver did not yield to oncoming traffic. The collision caused one car to flip over and land on a third car stopped at a stop sign. Police reported no signs of braking.

At 9:18 a.m., a 42-year-old Woburn man was summonsed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding in violation of a special regulation. According to police, the man was pulled over during routine traffic enforcement on Mishawum Road.

At 9:29 a.m., a Columbus Road resident reported his car struck by an unknown vehicle while parked on the street.

At 11:57 a.m., a 31-year-old Woburn man was summonsed to court for speeding in violation of a special regulation and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. According to police, the man was pulled over during routine traffic enforcement on Wyman Street.

At 2:08 p.m., police were called to a two-car accident on Main Street at Cross and Border streets.

At 4:13 p.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident at Main and Border streets. According to police, one car did not yield to oncoming traffic and caused the collision when entering Main Street. There were no reported injuries.

At 4:31 p.m., a Woburn woman reported someone fraudulently opened a credit card account using her personal information.

At 5 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Warren Avenue. While talking to two men, police confiscated a BB gun and a knife. According to police, a man in a car was carrying the BB gun and a second man was walking toward it when police arrived.

At 6:28 p.m., Arthur Anthony Guidara, 43, of 11 Beach St., was arrested and charged with violating an abuse prevention order. According to police, Guidara was taken into custody at Today’s Fitness.

At 7:12 p.m., a Kohl’s employee reported stopping a shoplifter with over $100 in merchandise. The store opted to handle the matter civilly.
