POLICE LOG: Trash Tableau, Including Toilet Bowl and Alien Figurine, Arranged on Lawn

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

At 6:45 a.m. police responded to a Woodside Terrace residence on a report of illegal dumping. The caller said that that morning he went outside and found that someone had dumped a lot of odd items onto his yard. The items included a pullout sofa, a mattress, a toilet bowl, lawn chairs, signs, DPW barricades, traffic cones, televisions, a basketball net, many lawn ornaments and an alien figurine. The items were strategically placed on the front lawn. None of them belonged to the homeowner.

Police state some of the items were recovered from residents on Forest Park Road, Pooole Street and Woodside Terrace. Other appeared to be pulled from the trash.

Other Incidents

June 6-

At 1:08 p.m. police responded to a Birchwood Lane residence on a report of identity theft. The caller said he had recently filed his 2012 tax return with the IRS and that according to his tax software the filing went through. He was later told by the IRS that a tax return had previously been filed in his name and that a refund of $4,200 was sent electronically to an undisclosed bank account. The man said there should not have been a return as he had to pay taxes after filing.

 

June 7-

At 11:43 a.m. a woman contacted police about an incident that happened the day before at Whole Foods. She said as she was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot she was approached by an older black male who told her she was “beautiful” and asked if she ever considered modeling. He then asked her about her current relationship status and if she ever considered having and affair. The woman told police that at that point she told the man she didn’t want to talk anymore but he was persistent.

According to police similar incidents have been reported in the past and involved a known male who fits the physical description provided by the woman. Curiously the incidents always occur in the first week of June in different years.

 

June 8-

At 9:16 a.m. a man came to the police station to report his iPhone was stolen at the Brickyard Cafe the night before.

 

At 9:21 a.m. police responded 955 Main Street on a report of damage done to a wall. Police observed about a 10-foot section of a stone and concrete wall had been damaged. There were also parts of a motor vehicle strewn about. The resident said the damage had been done sometime between 11 p.m. the night before and 4 a.m. that morning. The vehicle that struck the wall would have obvious front-end damage.

 

At 10:50 a.m. police responded to the Staples parking lot on a report of a vehicle break-in. The caller said she had been in the store for about 20 minutes and when she returned she found that the right front window had been shattered. She said it did not appear as if anything had been taken.

 

June 9-

At 12:52 p.m. a married couple came to the station to report threats and requested an emergency restraining order. The woman said her brother had threatened her and her husband and has been making threats since February. The events stemmed from the death of their mother.  The last incident occurred on June 6 when the brother invited the couple to come get keys to a residence and when they arrived the keys were tied around the neck of the brother’s German Shepherd. The brother also appeared enraged. Police advised on obtaining a restraining order.

 

June 10-

At 8:32 a.m. a Boston cab driver and Woburn resident reported that his cab was vandalized while parked in front of his residence the night before. Someone had used a white marker to write two expletives on his windshield. He said he has no idea who would do that.
