Preparing for the Holiday House Tour

The original Burdett home is almost ready for Sunday's event.

The original Burdett house is just one of the 10 stops on this year's Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Preparations have been underway for some time for Sunday's event. At the Burdett house, now owned by John Devine, the original Baldwin fireplace is already set for Sunday. The fireplace is just one of three left in the country and was once used to heat the entire house.

The Burdett family home dates back to 1870. Later, the family moved to the Burdett Mansion—now the home of the —and kept the original home at the corner of Frances and Main streets for servants. Eventually, the Burdetts moved back into their original house.

Devine, the owner of the North Suburban Bus Company of Woburn, is restoring the home and has several historic items inside. The home will be open to participants of the on Sunday afternoon.
