Presti Landlord Arrested on Gun Charges

A man affiliated with the Joanne and Alyssa Presti murders was arrested on gun charges in Woburn Thursday night.

At 8:34 p.m., Harinder Mohan Singh, 49, of 13 Totman Dr. Apt. #B, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (Smith & Wesson handgun) and being an intoxicated licensee carrying a firearm.

Singh was the Presti family's landlord at the time of the 2004 murder of Joanne Presti and her daughter Alyssa. While Singh was investigated as a suspect, he was not charged in the murder. Michael Bizanowicz is currently serving a life sentence for the Presti crime.

According to police, a caller reported a man pointed a gun at him on Totman Drive on Thursday night. The victim told police he was leaving a residence across the street when a man began yelling at him.

Police said the reporting party said he heard a gun being “racked” and saw a red laser-type light pointed in his direction. The man fled the area, then called police.

When police arrived at Singh’s home, they found him on the porch. Police recovered a gun in the man’s front pocket and another in the yard, as if it had been “tossed hurriedly.”

When officers spoke to Singh, he admitted he had pointed a gun at the man, but that it was not loaded.

Police reported Singh was "mumbling incoherently" and smelled of alcohol.

The Totman Drive resident was ordered bail, but police said he refused to go home without his firearms.
